The Western North Carolina Recovery Community Collaborative (WNCRCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to unifying health and housing opportunities while increasing access to ethical, equitable, and community-driven recovery support. Through collaboration and advocacy, WNCRCC is strengthening a more inclusive and sustainable recovery ecosystem across Western North Carolina.

This rally brings our community together to break stigma, offer support, and share the many ways people find recovery. During National Recovery Month, we amplify powerful voices and connect individuals with local resources to embrace every journey toward healing.

  • Erin Bowman LCAS, LCSW, CCS

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Erin Bowman works as the CEO of the Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center.  As an addictions therapist specializing in trauma, she understands the importance of treating the whole person without judgement or stigma.

    Erin is a founding member of the WNC Recovery Community Collaborative.  She trains on Trauma Informed Care and specializes in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders as well as substance use disorders.  Erin is the owner of Bowman Collaborative Consulting, LLC.

    Erin enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, cooking, yoga and beekeeping.

    Daniel Conway is a formerly justice-involved Veteran in recovery and a credentialed

    Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS), and Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW). Drawing from both education and lived experience, he is committed to walking alongside individuals navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and justice system involvement. Daniel coordinates the Henderson County Adult Recovery Court (ARC), where he works with an (amazing) team to support participants on their recovery journey. He serves on the NC JMARC Advisory Committee, Buncombe County JRAC, and is a board member of the WNC Recovery Community Collaborative (RCC) and the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). Daniel is a proud graduate-turned mentor for the Buncombe County Veteran Treatment Court (VTC). Known for his compassion and collaborative approach, Daniel believes in second chances, the power of community, and that recovery is possible for everyone.

    Sue Polston is the Executive Director of Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness and a leader in expanding peer-led recovery support across Western North Carolina. With nearly a decade of experience, she has grown Sunrise into a multi-site organization serving thousands annually through peer support, recovery housing, and community outreach.

    As a driving force behind the Western North Carolina Recovery Community Collaborative (WNCRCC), Sue is committed to strengthening regional partnerships and increasing access to recovery resources across all pathways. Her leadership is rooted in lived experience, bold vision, and a deep belief that recovery is possible for everyone.

    Jessica has been connected to the mission of the RCC since its founding in 2016 and now serves as a board member with a heart for service and community. Through both personal and professional experience, she has seen the barriers people face when trying to access resources in Western North Carolina, as well as the real impact that strong support and coordination can make. She is passionate about improving access, strengthening connections, and being part of the continued growth and progress of the RCC.

Across Western North Carolina, people in recovery—and those who love them—are doing some of the hardest work a human being can do: rebuilding a life, a family, a future.

But recovery is not just about individual willpower. It’s about whether someone has a safe place to sleep tonight. It’s about whether they can see a doctor who listens and cares. It’s about whether their community sees them as a problem to manage or a neighbor to support.

That’s where the Western North Carolina Recovery Community Collaborative (WNCRCC) comes in.
